Coaches Corner - 2009 Luther All-American Invitational
Coach Scott Anderson

The Red-Raider girls
cross-country team
traveled to Decorah,
Iowa Saturday. They
raced some excellent tea
ms
from Iowa with currently ranked #1 teams Iowa West (large schools) and
Decorah (small schools). Central placed second with a score of 75 points.
The following runners scored for the Red-Raiders. Miranda Sanchez
8th in 15:56, Morgan Sanger 12th
in 16:09, Abby Knutson 14th in 16:15, Violet Weibel 20th in 16:42, and Kayla
Guepfer 21st in 16:44. I thought Violet ran her best race of the year
showing great determination in her eyes Marissa Fellenz ran a strong race
placing 23rd in 16:45 and Megan Baumler running her first varsity race of
the season placed 27th in 16:59. This team is off to a solid start and
needs to just keep
training hard and improving.
The JV placed 4th out of 9 teams. Annie Waniger ran a very controlled and aggressive race. She started off in about 25th at the 500 mark and just kept coming placing 6th overall in a very good time of 17:25 which would have been 40th in the varsity race out of 82 runners. She was followed by Anneliis Sartin-Tarn, Kelly Fitzpatrick, Ella Overholt, and Devin Edge and I thought these young ladies had their best race of the year also. Good Gutsy kids.
